Default How to play samples in Reaper

OK, I've been using Reaper for three or 4 years and love information technology (although much of information technology is beyond me!). All the software instruments I've used accept been VST, which I have the hang of.

I bought a disc of harpsichord samples from realsamples.de and accept no thought how to use them in Reaper (I purchased information technology originally to use on a projection with someone who ran them in Logic). The pdf that came with them says this:

"This CD-set up contains samples of a masterbuilt harpsichord in the wave-format with presets for Steinberg Halion, Native Instruments Kontakt, Propellerhead Reason und Emagic EXS24 or Tascam GigaStudio."

Sorry for the total 101 question, but what practice I need to run these?

Thanks in advance!

Dan

If y'all buy Kontakt it will be able to run these for you. About probably a *.nki file.

Only you lot might try the free culling Kontakt Player first and just load the preset once it's installed to disc.

If having to modify stuff the full version is handy.

I recollect Native Instruments has summer sales with 50% off on many things right now.

Only I retrieve yous will exist fine with costless player.

I'k afraid the gratuitous kontakt thespian runs in demo mode for tertiary party samples and will time out afterwards 15 mins and drop all the samples of non licensed libraries. And information technology won't let you save the instruments yous make either. Merely at least information technology will let get a sense of taste for what it does and if it's something you might be interested in purchasing or non.

Thanks again.

The samplers listed are the main ones and is just to look through pricing of the others.

And then there are the samples that you might lift into another free sampler like sfz(used to be anyway), but that involves quite a lot of work.

There are format converters just they cost around $100 and up also, so it soon adds up.

Pricing on realsamples are around 100-150 for the harpsichords samples needing a sampler separately.

There are VSTs for much less($forty and upwards):

Try Kontakt Histrion and see what information technology is you lot've got and see if it's worth it.
Possibly the $40 VST does the same job.

Hello Dan,

have you tried to load the samples in Reaper's 'ReaSamplOmatic5000'?
It's a sample-player that comes with Reaper. It doesn't have many options, just if your WAV samples load into Reasamplomatic5000, you lot can apply ANY sample-role player to play them.

Breeze has a not bad sample-synth 'Dimension' ($50 for the LE version, $99 for the Pro). Y'all may desire to take a look at those...

Hi Dan, most decent sample libraries that don't have their own player will have a version in Kontakt. It'southward ane of the premier if not the well-nigh premier sampler on the market. As far equally cost goes, it'due south really not any more the other contenders, especially for what you become.

You might be able load the samples in ShortCircuit which is costless, and is probably ane of the all-time freebies effectually. Nonetheless, depending on how the samples are lined out with respect to their folders and filenames, this tin can get pretty difficult. Particularly if they accept more than than one velocity layer or possibly Round Robins. If your documentation for the harpsichord samples explains any of this it might be easier.
